What motivates you?

A combination of intellectual curiosity and the chance to work with ambitious entrepreneurs building exciting businesses.

What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

My first summer internship in college was at a stock brokerage, supposedly learning about the stock market, but effectively cold calling people and trying to get them to buy stocks. Not the easiest task in the summer of 2001. I got pretty good at staying motivated despite the frequent rejections.

Which global tech trend are you most excited about at the moment and why?

The continued consumerisation of the enterprise - both in terms of UX / delivery platforms and individual departments / teams / contributors choosing their own tools - sets up exciting opportunities for new companies to help make the lives of employees easier and more productive.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

A good night’s sleep is a smart person’s most dangerous weapon (at least partially true and, unlike much advice, relatively doable…)

What is the company you wish you’d backed and why?

Too many to name…all the good ones.
