What motivates you?
I'm driven by the analytical side of my role, using data across our portfolio to uncover meaningful insights about our track record. Understanding what has worked well, and why, is something I find genuinely compelling, and to translate that into something that informs our strategic thinking around future investments feels purposeful. There's a real satisfaction in knowing that rigorous analysis can shape decisions at that level.
What do you like about your job?
Working with startups in the tech space means you're constantly at the cutting edge of where industries are heading. Seeing firsthand how AI is being embedded across our portfolio companies, and watching a new wave of businesses emerge with AI at their very core, is genuinely exciting. It's a reminder that the work we do sits right at the intersection of finance and the future, which is a pretty unique place to be.
Looking back, what’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?
Making the move from the client-serving audit world to VC was a significant shift, but the challenge I underestimated most was just how much there was to learn about our portfolio. Each company has its own business model, its own story, and its own set of metrics that matter most - and across our varied investment sectors (SaaS, Fintech, Healthtech and Consumer), that breadth really adds up. It took time to build that knowledge, but it's a challenge I really welcomed, and getting under the hood of so many different businesses has made it one of the most rewarding parts of the role.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
To take a step back and look at the bigger picture. It's easy in any finance role to get absorbed into the details, and I'm no exception. But I've found that regularly lifting my head and thinking about how everything connects to the broader context really helps; keeping me grounded and making sure my focus is in the right places.
